Stash Report week 25 / 2011

This week I barely managed to get any sewing in, so I am scrambling over the weekend to sew my backing for Picnic - and of course I was short. That backing was the fabric I added and used this week.

Week 25 / 2011:

Used this Week: 5 yards
Used year to Date: 86.6 yards
Added this Week: 2 yrds
Added Year to Date: 40.25 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 46.35 yards

Check Judy's blog and see how others are doing with fabric stash busting.

As far as fitness goes: I had a skating week  - finally. The weather was just perfect for some inline skating and so I spent 5 evenings in the park and skated a total of 36 miles. Will try to keep this momentum going next week as well.

And because this post needs a picture, here is my newest potential project: my first (unsewn) test block with random fabrics for the Farmers Wife Quilt Along
It's a bit goofy for me to work with templates, but a challenge is good, right?

We'll see if I will join the FWQA crazyness in blogland - see my earlier post here.
The quilt along is for 2 blocks a week and they are currently in week 3. Guess I have to start with the easy ones and work myself up until 111 blocks are done.

Have a nice Sunday, hope you can squeeze some sewing into your day,
Barb

Stash Report week 22 / 2011

This week I only used 1/2 yard for the binding of Beary Patch - and I had poked a button for a fat eighth bundle of Hoopla. For $20 I just could not resist - and I have been going though the book Scrap Basket Sensations to find the perfect pattern match ...

Week 22 / 2011

Used this Week: 0.5 yards
Used year to Date: 73.8 yards
Added this Week: 4.25 yrds
Added Year to Date: 32 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 41.8 yards

Please check out other stash reports that link up to Judy's blog!

Fitnesswise it was mediocre with lots going on at work, but 3 gym visits did fit in. With all the rain we are having, there was no time for rollerblading. I really hope it dries up and I can go out during this long weekend!

Stash Report week 21 / 2011

This week I used up 3 yards of paw print flannel for the backing of the bear quilt. He will be on the quilt frame in the next hour. I also added 3 yards of Kona white for a future project. So essentially the numbers stay the same.

Week 21 / 2011
Used this Week: 3 yards
Used year to Date: 73.3 yards
Added this Week: 3 yrds
Added Year to Date: 27.75 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 45.55 yards

Please check other stash reports at Judy's blog!

On the fitness front I finally managed to start roller blading. It's been on my to-do list for a while, but somehow it was always raining. Somehow the 1st time of the season is always a pain for me. Once I am on the skates it's ok, but getting to it...
Now that this hurdle is taken, I am hoping for many more skate miles to come!

Enjoy your Sunday - and it truely is a sunny day here in Michigan,
Barb

Stash Report week 18 / 2011

I am sewing and working on several projects, but they are not to be revealed yet. I finished a backing, quilted the top & am still sewing on the binding.

Stash Report Week 18 / 2011:

Used this Week: 4 yards
Used year to Date: 67.8 yards
Added this Week: 0 yrds
Added Year to Date: 24.75 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 43.05 yards

This week has been quite a fitness week. It seems like the more stress I have at work, the more I end up in the gym. I counted 4 gym visits for this week.
Please see other stash reports on Judy's blog,
Barb

Stash Report week 17 / 2011

I used some fabric this week, but  some of it was just added to be used. So at least I am buying what is needed and that concept works for me.

Stash Report Week 17 / 2011:

Used this Week: 6 yards
Used year to Date: 63.8 yards
Added this Week: 4 yrds
Added Year to Date: 24.75 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 39.05 yards

Unreal, but we finally had nice & warm weather on Saturday, so I had my first 6 mile walk around Stony Creek Park. And guess what I saw: a Bald Eagle! It made my day - what a magnificent creature!
This means walking (and skating) season is finally back in Michigan - and I really hope to increase my outdoor activity time.

And in order to have a pic in today's post - a sneak peak at the latest fabric I am working with - nope, this is not an Eagle... ;-).
Please check other stash reports here.

Easter Greetings,
Barb

Stash Report week 14 / 2011

Another week is poof, just gone.
Not sure why, but time is flying by - with just a few sewing bursts here and there. So I managed to get some christmas house blocks done for MB - hopefully she can use them. 3 are done and 3 are waiting to be completed. That is all the fabric usage for this week - but luckily nothing came in!

Stash Report Week 14 / 2011:
Used this Week: 1 yards
Used year to Date: 46.3 yards
Added this Week: 0 yrds
Added Year to Date: 8.75 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 37.55 yards

How was your stash busting week?
Please check out how others are doing by going to Judy's blog!

And on the fitness front: 2 walks and 3 visits to the gym squeezed their way into my week.
We are still having uncooparative weather - and I can't wait for real sunshine and warmer temps.

Enjoy your Sunday,
Barb

Stash Report week 13 / 2011

Another week went by and there is not much going on in my stash department. I finished quilting my March UFO "Simply A Bloom", but everything was already accounted for.
Then I got some "Just one Star" blocks sewn, prepared some more binding strips and that was about it. If I could repeat the 36 yards for each of the next quarters of 2011, I'd be well over my 100 yards net used goal! Got to keep the stash moving!
Ok, after 4 trials I am giving up: blogger is not cooperating in posting pics today.

Stash Report Week 13 / 2011:
Used this Week: 0.5 yards
Used year to Date: 45.3 yards
Added this Week: 0 yrds
Added Year to Date: 8.75 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 36.55 yards

Now I have to choose my next quilt for loading on the frame: and that means some backing usage for next weeks report! And I just need another project to keep me entertained and as a reward for 3 of 3 UFO's done! So many possibilities...
Please check out Judy's blog for other stash busting reports!

My fitness week looks much better though: 3 visits to the fitness center and a walk! Not too bad, considering the cold spell that has been going on here in SE Michigan.

Have a great Sunday,
Barb

Stash Report 12 / 2011

It is slow going in my stash busting department, but at least I started my strips for the strip exchange, cut & sewed another binding and can count 1 yard out. 4 yards of Beige Batik came in for a HST project.

Stash Report Week 12 / 2011:

Used this Week: 1 yards
Used year to Date: 44.80 yards
Added this Week: 4 yrds
Added Year to Date: 8.75 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 36.05 yards

I also had to update my math - somehow I was off in my net used column...

Please go to Judy's Patchwork Place and see all the other stash reports!
And finally picking up again on my fitness report:
The weather has been nice this week and I started walking again - it feels soo good to spend time outside and feel the sunshine again!
All in all I walked 6 times this week, mostly 30 min type short walks, but 2 longer 1 hr ones. Not too bad - I am ready for more!

Stash Report week 11 / 2011

Even though I have sewn this week, there is nothing to report because everything was already accounted for - but nothing came in either!

Stash Report Week 11 / 2011:

Used this Week: 0 yards
Used year to Date: 43.80 yards
Added this Week: 0 yrds
Added Year to Date: 4.75 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 39.05 yards

Have a look at other stash reports here!
It's time to get my fitness report up and going again: I managed to squeeze in 2 workouts at the fitness center and one long walk - not too bad considering the current workload & stress.
And last but not least: Look what I received yesterday in the mail:

a 2 x 2 charm of Buttercup form Joanna / Fig Tree team!
I had guessed her collections during the pillow talk tour,
and got 5 right.
Isn't it cute?

Happy Sunday,
even though 1 hour short,
Barb

Stash Report 5 / 2011

Luckily for me the Oakland County Quilt Guild organized a Quilt Inn organized yesterday - and I signed up. Apart from great company and food I also got some sewing done. And it helped my stash report! I did add 2 FQ's for a new project - to be revealed on tomorrow's Design Wall Monday ;-)

Stash Report Week 5 / 2011:

Used this Week: 3.75 yards
Used year to Date: 30.45 yards
Added this Week: 0.5 yrds
Added Year to Date: 4.75 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 25.7 yards

Please check out other stash reports at Judy's blog.
It's been busy at work and 3 x fitness center was all I could fit in. With all the snow we just got I hope to get get some xc-skiing in today!

Enjoy your Sunday!

Stash Report 4 / 2011

While have been sewing and quilting, there is nothing to report for the stash report: no fabric came in or was used.

Stash Report Week 4 / 2011:

Used this Week: 0 yards
Used year to Date: 26.7 yards
Added this Week: 0 yrds
Added Year to Date: 4.25 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 22.45 yards

Please check out other stash reports listed on Judy's blog!
I have been working on the UFO # 6 and am fighting the hopefully last major road block. I have quilted as much as I could on my short arm frame and turned the quilt.

After over 3 hours turning the monster quilt and trying to match the panto, I finally gave up.
The quilt is turned, but the matching up is not happening.
I may have another solution of the type of " don't try this at home" and we'll see if it works...
For me this truely was the worst 1st UFO of the year that could have been picked.
So far I probably spend 20hrs plus on it,
with loading, unloading, reloading, pinning and quilting..

Then I heard about some neighbors of mine going through some rough patches
- and found a perfect excuse to abondon Cathedral Star for a bit to make this Felt Heart:
It is based on a tutorial by The Idea Room -
and I did die-cut the approximately 160 circles out of felt (about 3 inch diameter).
It still needs a ribbon so it can be hung on a door or wall,
but I think it looks beautiful!
My picture doesn't really do it justice though.

And last but not least: it was another slow fitness week on my end.
Some "stomach bug" kept me at home after work with early bed times.
Yesterday I made it to the gym for the first time this week.
On top we have real low temps and no walks after work either.
Next week will be better!
Have a nice Sunday,
Barb

Stash Report 3 / 2011

I have been sewing or rather quilting all week long, but the fabric had already been counted. And I did not win anything ;-) So no change in my stash report.

Stash Report Week 3 / 2011:

Used this Week: 0 yards
Used year to Date: 26.7 yards
Added this Week: 0 yrds
Added Year to Date: 4.25 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 22.45 yards

Please go and check out Judy's list of stash reports here!

As for my fitness report: I made it to the gym 2 times and spent 4 hours walking around at the Autoshow in Detroit - that must count for something. I felt more beat afterwards than going to the gym...

Ok, I got to go back to do some more quilting.
Have a great Sunday,
Barb

Stash Report 1 / 2011

A New Year and a new Stash report - isn't it great to start with a clean slate?
In preparation of the UFO # 6 I pulled an old baby quilt top, got some backing and tried out the panto "Popcorn". The  project had been started before my very 1st stash report and I will give myself credit for fabric used.

Stash Report week 1 / 2011:
Used this Week: 5 yards

Used year to Date: 5 yards
Added this Week: 0
Added Year to Date: 0
Net Used for 2011: 5 yards

Please go and check out other stash reports at Judy's blog.

I will try to continue with my fitness report this year as well. As a tradition in its 2nd year, I participated in the Belle Isle Fun Run or rather walk for me on NewYears Eve. And I made it to the gym yesterday to end & start a year on an active note.

So, how was your 1st week of 2011?

Enjoy your Sunday,
Barb

Final Stash Report 2010

I still used a bit of fabric this last week for the placemats, but overall I am short of my 100 yard net used goal. Nevertheless I am speechless that I used over 200 yards! So for a 1st year reporting, I am quite happy! And the fact that I stuck to it with just 1 or 2 weeks of not reporting, isn't bad either.
 Here are my final numbers:

Stash Report Week 51 / 2010:
Fabric used this week: 1.5 yrd
Fabric used year-to-date: 205.7 yrds
Fabric added this week: 1 yrds
Fabric added year-to-date: 147.9 yrds
Net used in 2010: 57.8 yrds

So thanks go out to Judy and I will participate next year again in Stash Report! I also added her UFO challenge to my list. We'll see how it goes.
Please check out other stash reports and see how they did in 2010!

And a quick fitness report: being on vacation has helped me to get 4 cross country skiing sessions in. Wow, what an intense workout - and outdoors, I love it!
To all you guys & gals on the East Coast: please send some more snow to Michigan, ours is getting old and icey... :-)

Stash Report

Another week is done and for me it was a fitness week. Somehow I didn't feel up for sewing, so I went for a walk and the Annual Reindeer Run and 4 visits to the Fitness Center! Not bad - even though it does not help my stash report. Yesterday I quilted a quilt and I have been adding to Bonnie Hunter's Star Struck blocks from the recent workshop for a total of 1/2 a yard.

Here you can see the bonus HST's piling up
(photos of all blocks will be on tomorrow's Design Wall)

Stash Report Week 49 / 2010:

Fabric used this week: 0.5 yrd
Fabric used year-to-date: 200.2 yrds
Fabric added this week: 0 yrds
Fabric added year-to-date: 146.9 yrds
Net used in 2010: 53.3 yrds

Well, I better get back to sewing the Star Struck blocks together and get at least the top done this year...
How did you do this week for stash busting? Please check out the stash busting warriers at Judy's Patchwork Place!
Enjoy your Sunday,
Barbara

Stash Report

I am just coming back from the airport where I dropped off Bonnie Hunter. She was visiting our Guild and gave a lecture + 2 workshops. This was my first quilt workshop - and it was great! It helped my stash, too... I started a Star Struck quilt in lap size and used 3 yards! And nothing came in!

Stash Report Week 44 / 2010:
Fabric used this week: 3 yrd
Fabric used year-to-date: 184.4 yrds
Fabric added this week: 0 yrds
Fabric added year-to-date: 128.4 yrds
Net used in 2010: 56 yrds

Please go to Judy's Patchwork Place and check other stash reports!

Fitness wise I had 'help' from Bonnie as well: we fit in 2 evening workouts at LifeTime Fitness. Perfect counter action to sitting and sewing at the workshop!!
Bonnie, I miss my workout buddy already! Could you please come back?

Now I better get sewing on the Secret Wedding Quilt - I finished 140 flying geese yesterday and was quite impressed with myself!
Happy sewing,
Barb

Stash Report

Not much sewing going on - just a few arrowhead blocks and some test blocks.
And then I am still preparing for Bonnie Hunter's workshop on Friday and have been cutting strips and squares - that will be counted next week and should give my stash busting a good boost!

Stash Report Week 43 / 2010:

Fabric used this week: 1 yrd
Fabric used year-to-date: 181.4 yrds
Fabric added this week: 0 yrds
Fabric added year-to-date: 128.4 yrds
Net used in 2010: 53 yrds

Please go to Judy's Patchwork Place and check other stash reports!

All in all it was a reasonable week for fitness: lost of walks for me with nice fall weather!
Happy Halloween,
Barb

Stash Report

I had a pretty productive week -
even though it doesn't really show in my stash report ;-(
First I quilted and bound Music Bloom (backing was already counted)
to meet my challenge for this week. Photos will be on DWM.
And then I pulled the circle baby top from my pile
and quilted & bound this one, too.
For a total usage of 3 whooping yards.

Stash Report Week 42 / 2010:

Fabric used this week: 3 yrds
Fabric used year-to-date: 180.4 yrds
Fabric added this week: 0 yrds
Fabric added year-to-date: 128.4 yrds
Net used in 2010: 52 yrds
Look at that: I finally hit the 50 yard line!
Please check out other stash reports and hop over to Judy's blog!

With all the quilting and sewing and me not feeling 100%, my fitness plan did not work out. I had a few early nights which didn't help either. 2 walks is all I fit in - next week will hopefully be better (though we'll have meetings at work all week)...
Now I am off to work on a wedding quilt that needs to be done by December 4th - since you just never know who lurks around my blog ;-) it will be kept secret and pictures will be posted after the event...
See you tomorrow at DWM,
Barb

Stash Report

This week I kept myself busy sewing 3 bindings (yeah - there is light at the end of the binding tunnel!!), a backing for Music Bloom and some more of Anita's Arrowhead block. It ended up at  5 1/2 yards used - nice!
And: I won a Fat Quarter Shop Jolly Jabber giveaway - yesterday received a box with a FQB of Red Rose Farm: It's beautiful!

If you have a favorite fat quarter pattern, please let me know! There are 2 bundles in my house that I don't dare to cut until I found just the right pattern.

Stash Report Week 41 / 2010:

Fabric used this week: 5.5 yrds
Fabric used year-to-date: 177.9 yrds
Fabric added this week: 4 yrds (win)
Fabric added year-to-date: 128.4 yrds
Net used in 2010: 49.5 yrds
I seem to be slowly inching toward the 50 yard mark...

Please check out othe stash reports on Judy's blog.

All week I either walked or went to the fitness center in the evening - so it's been a good and active week! Yesterday's 6 mile walk in Stony Creek Park was just beautiful with fall colors and nice warm weather. I will try to do it again today - got to wait a little longer for some more sun and higher temps though.
Happy Sunday,
Barb

Stash Report

Another busy week but not with sewing. I got a few binding strips cut and sewn, but they still need to get attached to the quilt. Nothing came in though and I am slowly inching up my net used yardage.
Then yesterday I learned how to crochet a Granny Square - be warned: they are adictive!

And a quick photo for Judy in MI: your donation kid quilt is almost done - only about 1 to 2 rows left to be quilted ( one sitting on Friday until I ran out of bobbin thread and called it a night)! Now if I could count this fabric, wouldn't that be nice...

Stash Report Week 40 / 2010:

Fabric used this week: 1 yrds
Fabric used year-to-date: 172.4 yrds
Fabric added this week: 0 yrds
Fabric adde year-to-date: 124.4 yrds
Net used in 2010: 48 yrds

Please hop to Judy an check other stash reports! She used an amazing 29 yards this week - wow!

Fitness was ok this week with a few walks and 3 Lifetime visits. Nothing spectacular, but pluggin' along.
How was your week?
Barb
