January UFO - done!

Here is my UFO report for January -
I had to shuffle a bit and re-assigend my UFO # 10 for January -
binding for my Jelly Roll QA quilt.
It is done -
and I can also enter it at the QG meet on Thursday in the UFO category - nice!

Just 11 more UFOs to go in 2012....

Design Wall Monday

I got quite some sewing done during our Quilt Inn on Saturday -
and now my Hometown Cherries quilt top is done:
I really love how it turned out
and the background choice is perfect -
Thanks to all your help!

And here is my UFO for January:
I need to get the binding done
on my jelly roll quilt along.
The binding strip is pressed and ready for sewing -
the Countdown until February 1st is on!

Well, that's it from my design wall -
check out all the posts listed on Judy's blog!

2011 UFO challenge

Ok, here is a short recap of my 2011 UFO accomplishments:
I finished 5 out of 12 UFOS!
Not the best result ever, but every UFO done, is one less!

#1 : Simply a Bloom: DONE, binding and all!

#2: Jelly Roll QA: quilting done - needs binding

#3: Batik Whirl - not touched...
#4: Cowboy Wave: DONE & donated

#5: Fishing Circles: not touched...
#6: Cathedral Stars: quilting done, needs binding

#7: Bears in the forest - not touched...
#8: Tropical Twist - ...
#9: Double Delight - ....
#10: Anita's Arrowhead: DONE & donated

#11: Quilting of 1 big quilt - didn't happen
#12: Irish Chain -.... need to pull it out and use as leader/ ender project

I see a pattern here: I seem to have issues with borders. Lots of projects stop once I reahc a border decision stage.
Hm, I see lots of borderless quilts in my future ;-) maybe that will help my finish-it-up mode!

Ooh, and have a look at the socks I just finished this week:
4 pairs done - and 1 new one (the 2nd sock is already half done):
Well, that's it for today,

Design Wall Monday

Another Design Wall Monday and I have a finished top to show!
Here is my jelly roll quilt along top in Plume fabric
with a partial piano key border:

I am still cleaning up after the 70 Circles quilt.
Leftovers and a few kid fabrics ended up in this baby quilt;
nothing sewn yet - just a lay-out of about 35" square.

And I finally took care of the lighthouse / ship fabric,
that has been 'sailing around' for far too long...
I added some strips - have to play around some more;
losely following Mary's "Quick Strippie".

Well, that should give me
enough mindless sewing for the week ahead!
It works better for me if I have things prepared
and just commit to a few strips or circles a day.
Otherwise I would never get anything sewn...
They may not be sophisticated tops/ quilts,
but they work for me :-)
and they help my stash control / report!

Enjoy your week,

Design Wall Monday

As mentioned in yesterday's post, I finished 70 Circles and delivered it.
It's already on hand by the sofa for cool evenings -
and I hope it will be used & loved!
Here is one last picture with binding and label.

So now I am working on the jelly roll sampler quilt.
I had meant to get the top done, but that didn't happen.
Here is the lay-out with blocks just put on top of white fabric:
Probably not one of the best photos ever,
but it shows the sashing and a partial piano border -
and that is the plan.
Hopefully it will be completed by the end of the week;
somehow depending if I have to travel again...

Please go to Judy's blog and have a look at other design walls!
Have a great week,
Barb

Design Wall Monday

This last week I have been working on 3 projects:

Block # 11 of the Jelly Roll Quilt Along
(as always: just in time...)

Fishing Circle Around:
Blocks are sewn, now I need to sew
blocks to rows and
rows to quilt top

Music Bloom
( Free Pattern by Scott Hansen)
I accomplished quite a few blocks with flying geese;
some more are needed,
but the project finally looks promising,
well, kinda.
Needs more skinny blocks and
some small square blocks.

Please check out other design walls here!

Design wall Monday

This week I am pretty pleased with my progress on several fronts - and that doesn't happen too often... So here we go:

First off is the hopefully final lay-out of "Simply a Bloom" - with all blocks done; just the applique still needs to get sewn down and is currently only fused on. This quilt has grown on me, a lot and now I really do love it!

Then I joined the Hexagon-Quilt-Along and started cutting & sewing the first installment. I am using the Neptune fabric line - and this is my first time using a 60 degree pyramid ruler. The next instructions should be up soon.

And last but not least I finished block # 3 of the jelly-roll quilt along - just in time.

That's it from my end, please got and have a look at other design walls at Judy's Patchwork Place.

Enjoy your week,
Barb

Wonky Log Cabin

Just a quick post with a picture of the wonky log cabin blocks. Not too shabby - though the camera operator could have done a nicer job... Hope to sew the blocks together, add a border and finish it up as a blanket by Saturday, so it can find a home as a Project Linus Blanket.
And today the Jelly roll sampler quilt along by Moose on the Porch quilt started - well, my 1st block has to wait until Sunday. Luckily they post a new block every 2 weeks, perfect time frame for me!
Oh yes, Bumble Beans received my house blocks in the mail - if you haven't made one yet, please go to her website and support her BASICS home gather with a 10 1/2 inch house block!

On the fitness front: No x-c skiing today, it's too warm and melting. I guess I have to go back to some fitness center workouts if it doesn't snow soon.

Have a great 1st week of March!
