Stash Report week 26 / 2011 and One thing - One week challenge

Despite quite some sewing during the week, I have nothing to report. So my numbers stay the same.

My finish of the week: Town Square top is done! The original version by Kim Brackett has 2 borders, but I will keep mine the way it is.
This was my submission for Amy's One Thing - One Week challenge! Whenever I break things down in do-able portions ( with incentive...), I can accomplish a whole lot ;-)
Hope you like the top!

Week 26 / 2011:
Used this Week: 0 yards
Used year to Date: 86.6 yards
Added this Week: 0 yrds
Added Year to Date: 40.25 yrds
Net Used for 2011: 46.35 yards

Please check other stash reports listed on Judy's blog!

One thing - one week challenge 8

Latest news:
for extra motivation
I just signed up for Amy's challenge
to finish one thing this week.
For me it will be finishing Town Square into a top!
Here is the status today June 21st:
What's left to do:
  • finish sewing all blocks into rows
  • sewing all sashing rows together
  • and finally sewing all rows into a top!
  • Deadline: next Monday June 27th
I can do it!
Why don't you join Amy's challenge
and finish a project this week?
It's fun and motivating.
And you'll have something DONE
by next Monday!
How cool is that?

One Thing - One Week Challenge # 4

I had challenged myself to quilt and bind "Music Bloom" during the last week - and I did it!
It was a busy Saturday with all the sewing,
but it feels good to have it done!
Here is the latest picture (though the colors are not great):

Thank you Amy to get me motivated!
Please go to Amy's blog
and check for other 'challengers'
and how they managed to make their on thing in one week!

One thing - One week challenge update

I just took "Music Bloom" of the quilt frame -
the quilting is done and it is lunch time on Saturday.
So what's left to do: squaring it, cutting and sewing the binding by Monday.
That's my challenge for Amy's OT-OW challenge 4.
And here was supposed to be a close-up picture,
but blogger does not want to cooperate.
So, I think I can do it and finish the quilt by Monday -
and maybe I will even enter it for Blogger's Quilt Festival.
I have never done it before and have to check which rules apply.

Happy weekend,
Barb

One thing - One week challenge 4

I just hopped over to Amy's blog -
and her One Thing - One week  challenge #4 is on.
Soooo, I should join -
and get something else done in one weeks' time....
Hmmm, so many projects to chose from, where to start?
Ok, the most urgent project would be to get
Music Bloom on the quilt frame and get it quilted and bound!
Because it needs to go to my aunt in November -
 meaning I better hurry up!
The back is almost done, so maybe I can wing it tonight and get it loaded.
Here is one more look at the Music Bloom top:

Wish me luck -
this one will be a stretch challenge, but a good one.
Thank you Amy to kick us into gear!
Maybe YOU have something, too
and will join Amy as well!?

1T - 1W challenge...

Ok, I will dedicate this blogpost to Judy -
and her supportive comment
to get my quilt top quilted.
One row at a time;
one for her - one for me
and it worked!
Thanks so much Judy and have a look:

I even managed NOT to sew onto my leaders...

Here it is liberated from the frame - DONE!!!
And no, I will not mention that I put the backing
together the wrong way.
And therefore it wasn't wide enough-
so I have to chop of some parts from the sides.
Oh well.
Now renamed into Skinny Strippie :-)

Sooo, if somebody can please tell me
why it takes me so long to get started on some things?
I'd be forever grateful!
How is your 1T-1W challenge coming along?
Barb

Maybe I should load another quilt?

One thing - one week challenge: update

Ok, here is the update on my quilt-a-top challenge:
it's looking good so far: the backing has been made;
the quilt is loaded and
the first couple of rows have been quilted -  wahooo!
I can do this!
Even though I chickened out and used the Stars EZ boards again...
A few rows every day
and I will make it!
Happy sewing,
Barb

One thing - one week Challenge

Amy is hosting her 3rd "One thing - One week Challenge" and I just signed up.
Too many quilt tops in my house,
so I challenge myself to quilt one top
( or if it is smaller baby tops, then 2)
until the end of the challenge next Monday September 27th.
This should help my stash report as well as my flimsie stack...
I am thinking of " Guitar Quick Strippie" -
got to find a backing first:
Wish me luck!

One thing - One week challenge

As you may have read in earlier posts I joined Amy's "One thing - One week challenge" last Tuesday. Today is the day to see if the goal has been met.
My goal was to sew the binding onto "Cowboy Circle Around" - and I persevered though 2 failed  attempts and finally got it done! I only stuck to it because of the challenge, so thanks to Amy Cowboy Circle is ready for V and BASICS - yeah!

Bindings are a real challenge for me - even though I may have finally figured out how to get an acceptable (?) machine sewn binding on a quilt. We are not talking Quilt Show perfect, but ready for use as everyday quilt.

Please go to Amy's Creative Side and see who else met their goal in the One thing - One week challenge!

I guess it just shows you how peer pressure or rather challenge pressure can 'help' to make things happen; well at least it works for me.
Without it, Cowboy Circle would still be staring at me bindingless and accusing...

Thanks again, Amy: great idea and I am so glad I joined!
Will be back for more...

One Thing - One Week Challenge

Since I seem to be suffering of binding phobia, I entered Amy's challenge:
One Thing - One Week challenge

My challenge:
This week I will finish sewing the binding onto the Cowboy Circle Around quilt!
Here is poor Cowboy Circle - still binding-less:

But his fate will change this week!
Wish me luck -
and this quilt will be ready to go to V / BASICs soon!
Deadline is next Tuesday ...
