Design Wall Monday

Not too much sewing,
but more cutting
going on at my place.
While sewing a few units
(only temporary left upper corner unit -
will be moved to outer edge of quilt)

I used the Zig Zag guild quilt pre-cut package
as leaders and enders.
It's a mix of cotton and upholstery
and who knows what,
but hopefully it will make a decent quilt.
Had some trouble
with all colored pieces being too small,
so I ended up re-cutting all HST units -
oh what fun...
I am a few units short and
the quilt just needs something else,
maybe a colorful piano key border?
Help or Suggestions, please!

Oh yes,
I had a great time at the GLHQ Guild meet
and speaker Jacquie Gering -
just one of her fabulous quilts:

  1. Your fractured quilt is getting more amazing (MAZE) each week!! Love it. I like the guild quilt just the way it is. Maybe a wide binding of a darker blue or purple?? Skinny white border just before the binding?? Is this for the guild or for you? Lots of questions. Wouldn't you love to make that quilt that Jacquie is showing?? I'm jealous - she is one of my heroes. Hugs.

  2. Fun photos this week. Yes, I too am amazed by your Maze Fractured Quilt. I think I would put a "stop" border on the zig zag quilt. Something that reads as solid in red, orange?, purple or navy blue. I wouldn't put piano keys on it as it is pretty busy as is. It looks terrific so far.

  3. Hi Barb...What an amazing maze and the colors are stunning with the blue being a constant zig zag. How fun to find Design Wall Monday and visit your post. Yes, I'm a newbie to this party, but not to the art and world of Quilting. I owned a 'Brick and Mortar' quilt shop from 1996 through 2005, and now I've joined the online Quilt World with A Quilt Store and More ETSY Shop. My 'Niche' in the ever growing and competitive online fabric shopping world is my 'Inventory and Stash' from the years of buying and selling quality quilt fabrics from top designers and manufacturers. I'd love for you to visit me at CollectInTexas BlogShop which is linked to my ETSY Shop and see what is on my Design Wall today. Just click on the signature link below...hope to see you there.

  4. Barb I agree with Judy in Michigan - I love the zig-zag quilt just as it is.
I confess that I do like quilts without borders especially the scrappy pieced ones like this.
