Please check out other stash reports listed on Judy's blog!
I have been working on the UFO # 6 and am fighting the hopefully last major road block. I have quilted as much as I could on my short arm frame and turned the quilt.

After over 3 hours turning the monster quilt and trying to match the panto, I finally gave up.
The quilt is turned, but the matching up is not happening.
I may have another solution of the type of " don't try this at home" and we'll see if it works...
For me this truely was the worst 1st UFO of the year that could have been picked.
So far I probably spend 20hrs plus on it,
with loading, unloading, reloading, pinning and quilting..

Then I heard about some neighbors of mine going through some rough patches
- and found a perfect excuse to abondon Cathedral Star for a bit to make this Felt Heart:
It is based on a tutorial by The Idea Room -
and I did die-cut the approximately 160 circles out of felt (about 3 inch diameter).
It still needs a ribbon so it can be hung on a door or wall,
but I think it looks beautiful!
My picture doesn't really do it justice though.

And last but not least: it was another slow fitness week on my end.
Some "stomach bug" kept me at home after work with early bed times.
Yesterday I made it to the gym for the first time this week.
On top we have real low temps and no walks after work either.
Next week will be better!
Have a nice Sunday,
Barb

  1. The heart is very sweet and will hopefully lift your neighbors spirits. A very sweet thing for you to do.
Won't you be thrilled when the Cathedral Stars quilt is finished! I've never tracked the time on a project--it scares me. :) Hopefully your remaining UFOs won't be as challenging. Now go in and quilt a row for me!! :0)

  2. That is a cute heart.

At least, when this UFO is done, the rest of the year will seem so much easier, right?

Hope you feel better soon....I'd send up some warm southwestern weather, but it's chilly down here too!

  3. It's so hard when a quilt takes WAY more than you thought you were willing to pay. Way to STICK with it!

  4. that is a BEAUTIFUL UFO QUILT! don't give up on it yet.
if you're using a paper strip panto, just flip the strip over to the back, re-trace the panto if you need to see it, and manually quilt backwards, moving your machine from right to left. It will be a bit slower than quilting forward, but it's worth a try.

  6. Way to stick with your UFO commitment! You still have a week to keep at it and just think how elated you will be when you finish this quilt!!

  7. Hmmm, this may be a dumb question but why did you have to turn the quilt? (DH & I have a short arm but haven't worked on it very much).

I hope that you have been able to get the quilt finished.
