Design Wall Monday

Not too much sewing going on here,
but at least I finished my 'You+Me' quilt top,
pattern from the Gen Q magazine
 - have a look:

Ok, for the moment
it will join the to-be-quilted pile,
but I am hooked on Angela's book
"Free Motion Quilting"
and her Craftsy class
"Quilting Negative Space".
So maybe soon I will overcome
my pantograph only approach
on my shortarm set-up.
There is hope!

And I have another quilt to share:
Cake Stand Illusion,
my guild challenge quilt,
that was not understood at 'my' (?) guild.
They couldn't even hang it right,
with the front side facing out...

I created the 3 x 3 cake stand block lay-out
in EQ7 and then enlarged it,
a colleague of mine
showed & helped me
to spherize it,
and here it is - the applique front version:

My first 'rejected' paper pieced attempt,
ended up as backing
and I added a word-play
in the wedges I couldn't paper-piece right...:

Well, I hope you have time to check out
the other beautiful creations
listed on Judy's blog!

  2. I love your Cake Stand Illusion quilt, both front and back! You did a great job! Too bad the members of your guild hung it wrong!

  3. Funny about the guild: mine is the same way. Great job on the illusion, I am afraid to try that but really admire it.
