Done!

I can't believe I finished stitching the applique shapes of Shadow Garden - yes!
And looking at my close-ups, not half bad - especially with my photographic skills.... What a relief - and now comes the question of how to quilt it. The magazine used a small meander, but I have never done it. I would love to put it on my short arm and do an EZ board, but my selection is limited to "Random Stars" and "Baptist fan". Not sure if that would work. Maybe I do just an outlining of the shapes and then straight lines through the middle of the 1 inch back ground squares (on my domestic machine). In the ditch with all these seams doesn't sound likea good idea. Got to mull over this for another while.
So it's back full time to Carolina Christmas and some easy sewing.

Checking on my UFO's I came across "Bits of Sunshine" out of the McCall's Quilting Magazine from February 2008.
Nothing extra special; it was born as a great way of getting rid of a bunch of blue prints and I believe it makes a nice donation quilt, with just a little yellow square in the middle of the blocks. Now I just ran out of plain white fabric - probably my next and first fabric purchase for the year 2010. Here goes my stash report. This would mean to finish another quick panel quilt for Project Linus to off-set the purchase...

My current motivation for these UFO's: a reader's submission contest at the McCall's website. So I would like to finish both and enter them by the deadline of January 31st.
Well, this is just giving me the extra kick somewhere to get going and NOT to start a brand new project. Although it's tempting.
It's been a long week and I am glad it's FRIDAY!
Enjoy,
Barb

  1. I love your Shadow Garden applique. Can you tell me more about the pattern as I would like to see about getting it.
