Amy is hosting her famous Blogger's Quilt Festival - Fall 2010
and I had promised myself to participate this time around.
It's my first time - but I hope to add many more!
If you have read my blog before,
you may have seen my Music Bloom quilt already.
It's my favorite and last finished quilt!
Music Bloom (Free Pattern by Scott Hansen) http://bluenickelstudios.com/
And here is my Music Bloom Quilt story:
I decided to make a quilt for my aunt in Germany
who is going through some rough times with her health.
Talking to my mom I was told "Earth Colors" would be a perfect fit.
Well that answer threw me in a loop:
there are almost no brown / earthy colors in my stash...
Just one fabric with musical instruments.
So it became the focus fabric - and part of the quilt name.
During this time I had been looking at Scott Hansen pattern for a while,
but never made one.
What a perfect occasion - I picked his Lantern Bloom pattern!
It took some time to finish -
and Amy's One Thing-One Week challenge helped a lot!
The backing is pieced and I quilted it with Stars allover.
I very much enjoyed the big blocks of the pattern - a first for me.
And my flying geese have improved as well!
The quilt has been finished for about 2 weeks now
and it will travel to Germany this upcoming Thanksgiving.
I hope it will be loved - and used!
Thank you so much to Amy and all participating sponsors
of Blogger's Quilt Festival - Fall 2010!
Please go and check out all the beautiful and creative quilts
at Amy's Place!
