Design Wall Monday

Guess what: I finished all the blocks for Music Bloom!
Wohoo, I surprised myself.
Had to do some ripping to eliminate some fabrics that suddenly didn't fit any longer,
but now I like the final result - have a look:
I also finished the final block # 12 of the jelly roll sampler quilt along:

So here are all JRSQ blocks -
they still need sashing though,
but I am on time!

That is pretty much all the sewing I have done.
Still working on some Circle Around quilts, but nothing to show yet.
Hop on over to Judy's place to see other beautiful design walls.

Design Wall Monday

Here is a look at the currently finished block for Music Bloom.
The blocks don't really go in that lay-out, but I was running out of room on my design floor...
There are still quite a few of these skinny blocks missing - and most of them are surrounded with flying geese blocks. So that will be next week's task.

I also finished block # 10 for the jelly roll quilt along.

That's it from my end -
Please have a look at other design walls here!
Happy Monday,

Design Wall Monday

I fell into a sewing 'hole' after having finished the Memorial Quilt by Judy. But on Saturday while it was raining, I grabbed some fabrics to try out 2 different patterns with 2 special rulers that have been hanging out at my house for far too long without any action....
One is the New Wave by Elizabeth Hartman from OhFransson! and the other one is Circle Around from Julie at Jaybirdquilts published in the Quilts and more magazine. I used some Cowboy fabric with the hope of making some boy quilts out of my playing around.

Oh, yes, I also finished block # 7 of the Jelly Roll Quilt Sampler, hours before the deadline ;)

And some more sewing for the Hexagon Quilt Along, but nothing cut yet.

Unfortunately blogger is still a mess and moving photos is not an option today.
Please go to Judy's place and check other design walls!

And last but not least a quick picture of my Cheer-me-up Rainbow colored jelly roll:

Design Wall Monday

Not a particular exciting view on my design floor, but here it goes. I did pull out some lonely blocks and sized them to 10.5 inch squares for V:

Next up is my pathetic attempt at block # 6 of the jelly roll sampler quilt along. I don't know why, but I cut the fabric strips wrong - can you believe it: twice. So in the end I am not particularly happy with my fabric choices - and they still had to have a little 'side surgery' to make them fit. Go figure - I guess some days are just different than others...

And as always (?) last but not least: I started Purple Rain sock # 2 - to see if I would get pooling or not:

As you can see: it pools, too! Just the direction of the diagonal stripe is different... Don't ask me why. I always start from the inside of a yarn bundle.

Nothing else from MI. Please go and check other design walls on Judy's blog!

Design wall Monday

I know: it's late for a design wall post, but it still is Monday. Somehow I ran out of MOJO and only a few minutes ago got my act together... Ok, so here we go.
First I had finished another block of the jelly roll sampler quilt along.
As mentioned in my stash report, I was going to cut some more fabric for QFK kits that I could easily use as leaders & enders. I found a 'ship ahoy' kids print and added yellow & red for the 4 patches. Not too bad. I actually had enough material to cut 2 sets!
While going through my fabric I came across the brown football print - and am open to your suggestions which colors you would use for the 4 patch.
Meantime I am still working on 'Simply a bloom', but you have seen the quilt top already too many times.
Please check out other design walls at Judy's Patchwork Times!

Oops, I almost forgot - here is the status of my Spice socks:
Enjoy your week,
Barb

Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Block # 3

Just a quick post of my latest JRSQ along block made in Plume:
Today I went to the Oakland County "Quilt Celebration '10" quilt show and saw amazing quilts! So many different styles and so many talented people, wow!
Soon to follow a mix of photos I took.
Have a nice Saturday night,

Jelly Roll Sampler quilt block # 2

I thought I had posted my latest JRSQ block, but I guess I didn't.
So here it is: Block # 2 of the jelly roll quilt sampler made of the fabric line Plume. So these are both blocks together - more to come in 2 week increments. I guess that may be the only way for me right now to get sewing into my week.

It's going to be an interesting and colorful lay-out of the final quilt - that'll be somehow in August.
Have a great week,

Barb

Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along

Here is just a quick Saturday update: I just finished block 1 of the Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along by Moose on the porch quilt and posted it on their flickr page. Just in time with the deadline for the 1st block being on March 15th. I used a jelly roll of Tula Pink's 'Plume'.
It's raining here in SE Michigan and I will continue some more sewing, probably house blocks for Bumble Beans.
Have a great weekend,
Barb
